Aspirin is a very common medicine that is used to treat inflammation, fever, and pain. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used to give relief from pain, to reduce fever and for inflammation of muscles.

Aspirin is found in plants in the form of salicylate. Heart patients can also use this medicine because it reduces clot formation. It is an anti-platelet drug that can reduce clotting. This medicine is often given to stroke patients. It is used as a painkiller to reduce body ache, toothache, and headache.

Availability

Aspirin is available in many forms such as,

  • Tablets: You can take these with water.
  • Soluble tablets: You can dissolve these tablets in water. This kind of medicine is for those who cannot take tablets.
  • Gel: Aspirin also comes in gel form. This form is available for animal use as well. Some products are available to treat some oral problems in humans.
  • RectalSuppository: Suppositories are also available. These are taken from the rectum.                                                                                        

Uses of Aspirin

Aspirin can treat the following diseases or problems.

Side effects of Aspirin

Indigestion: You may feel heartburn or pain in your upper abdomen.

Nausea: Nausea refers to the feeling of vomit. You feel that you are about to vomit.

Vomiting: Sometimes you may vomit after eating.

Mild headache: You may feel a headache, but it is not severe.

Bleeding from the nose: Aspirin makes your blood thin and it reduces the clotting. Therefore, there can be bleeding from the nose.

Stomach problem (Upset Stomach): There can be vomiting and diarrhea in this case.

Drowsiness: You may feel lethargic or sleepy.

Fever: Fever, in this case, stays longer than three days.

Rapid breathing: Some people may have rapid breathing or problem in breathing.

Bloody Stools: There can be blood in stools or vomit.

Confusion and Hallucination: The medicine taker may feel confused or enter in the state of hallucination.
